Forklift Operator And Material Handler
This role focuses on safely moving materials, parts, and units between multiple buildings, vendor locations, storage areas, and assembly areas. You accurately track and record the location of all materials as they move through the facility, while performing timely material move transactions in the system. You support production by ensuring the right parts are in the right place at the right time, working both indoors in a shop environment and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Responsibilities- Operate forklifts safely to move mechanic and tire trucks through lots and into production facilities.
- Transport materials, parts, and units between buildings, from vendors to the facility, and from the facility to off-site locations.
- Record and maintain accurate locations of parts and materials as they are moved throughout the facility.
- Locate, identify, and pull the correct parts and materials required for production.
- Perform material move transactions in the system in a timely and accurate manner.
- Read and interpret blueprints and other technical documents to identify correct parts and locations.
- Work both indoors in a shop environment and outdoors in all weather conditions while maintaining safety and productivity.
- Collaborate effectively with other employees as part of a team and support duties not directly related to material handling when needed.
- Follow direction from area supervision and carry out instructions consistently and accurately.
- Demonstrate a productive, non-disruptive work ethic and maintain a strong focus on quality.
- Work in a manner that minimizes scrap and rework, continually seeking to improve quality levels.
- Follow all company safety rules and policies as outlined in the safety manual and other company guidelines.
- Maintain company equipment and work areas in a clean, organized, and orderly condition.
- Manage time effectively to meet schedules and support production needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operations and team objectives.
- Proven ability to operate forklifts safely, including both stand-up and sit-down equipment.
- At least 2 years of forklift experience within a warehouse environment, including some outdoor experience moving material between buildings.
- Experience with material handling, inventory movement, picking, packing, and general labor tasks.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and other related technical documents.
- Capability to work independently without direct supervision and as part of a team.
- Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to input data and perform material transactions in an MRP or similar system.
- Ability to operate both standing and seated type forklifts safely and efficiently.
- Valid driver's license.
- Willingness and ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Commitment to follow safety rules, company policies, and supervisory instructions.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience using an RF scanner for inventory and material tracking is a plus.
- Comfort learning and using MRP systems and related technology.
- Personable and professional communication style when working with team members across departments.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when recording locations and performing transactions.

Environment
The role follows a Monday through Thursday schedule from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with regular overtime opportunities on Fridays, typically at least a half day and sometimes a full day, especially during periods of high demand. The facility is not climate controlled, so you work in varying temperatures and conditions, including outdoor environments. You operate forklifts (both stand-up and sit-down), use basic computer systems, and may work with RF scanners and MRP systems to complete transactions and track materials.
