This is a full-time, on-site Metal Fabricator and Repair role based in New Hampton, IA. The Metal Fabricator and Repair team member will cut, form, weld, and assemble metal components according to blueprints, drawings, and work orders. Daily tasks include operating fabrication machinery (such as saws, brakes, shears, and welders), inspecting parts for accuracy and quality, and performing repairs on metal structures and equipment.
The role involves measuring and layout work, fitting and aligning components, and performing finishing operations like grinding, cleaning and Preping for powder coating. The team member will also maintain tools and equipment, follow safety procedures, collaborate with coworkers and supervisors on project plans, and complete documentation related to jobs and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions, with strong basic math and measurement skills.
- Hands-on experience with metal fabrication processes, including cutting, forming, welding, fitting, and assembling metal parts.
- Proficiency in using fabrication tools and machinery, such as welders, grinders, saws, presses, and hand tools, with attention to equipment care.
- Commitment to workplace safety, including proper use of PPE, adherence to safety protocols, and awareness of OSHA or similar standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing issues, performing metal repairs, and adjusting work methods to meet quality requirements.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to take direction, coordinate with colleagues, and support shared project goals.
- Physical ability to perform manual work, including lifting, standing, bending, and working in a shop environment for extended periods.
- Previous experience in metal fabrication, welding, powder coating, or industrial maintenance preferred; relevant technical training or certifications are beneficial.
