PURPOSE:
Ensures the production objective of safety of all employees, quality of the product and maximum operating efficiency by the utilization of knowledge, training and Production Department resources and communications.
- Responsible for troubleshooting molding process-making adjustments to the machine and auxiliary equipment to produce quality parts.
- Ensuring machines function properly to produce quality parts.
- Monitoring and answering alarms on machines.
- Setting up and removing molds.
- Maintaining molds and machines.
- Mixing material and keeping machine hoppers full.
- Inputting and extracting information from a computer system.
- Completing paperwork related to production, processing, quality and scrap.
- Conducting quality checks and utilizing knowledge of SPC.
- Performing a full start‑up after a mold is set up.
- Training new mechanics on the machines and the process.
- Pulling skids of finished product from production floor to Q‑area with a hand truck.
- Cleaning the area around machines.
- Grinding parts and runners for reuse or resale.
- Following ISO and Quality Management Systems.
- Providing own tools and toolbox.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
- All above are essential job functions.
- Manufacturing experience.
- Mechanical aptitude to complete basic maintenance on line.
- Demonstrated processing capabilities.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to multi‑task.
- Work safely and follow Safety Rules and Procedures.
- Handle cleaning solvents, polishing compounds, rust preventatives, grease and oil.
- Understand molding, tooling and machinery terminology for competent communication.
- Slide mold plates of various weights during cleaning, assembling and disassembling.
- Move parts or entire molds with a hand truck or cart.
- Lifting boxes up to 5ft. high, weighing up to 35lb.
- Pushing barrels weighing up to 300lb. onto tumbler to mix material.
- Dumping partial barrels into other barrels or gaylords.
- Bending gaylords or barrels to bucket out resin, color or regrind.
- Lifting 50lb bags of resin to empty into barrel.
- Using calipers, depth gauge, micrometer and magna mike to accurately measure dimensions of finished product and tooling.
- Climb ladders to perform color changes.
- Demonstrate analytical ability to solve problems and execute well‑thought plans.
- Visually check parts for defects.
- Follow all General Manufacturing Practice procedures.
- Identify and report violations and unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel.
- Wear required personal protective equipment.
- Respond effectively in an emergency situation such as fire or accident and direct activities of others.
- Follow all Department Procedures and Directives.
