The Operations Packaging Supervisor is a frontline leadership role responsible for safely and efficiently leading finished-product packaging operations at Redwood Materials’ McCarran facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Lead daily finished-product packaging operations with an uncompromising commitment to safety, environmental compliance, product quality, customer requirements, and operational discipline.
- Supervise, coach, train, and develop a diverse team of packaging operators to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective production.
- Maintain a strong and consistent presence on the production floor and model the safety, quality, accountability, and operational behaviors expected from the team.
- Set clear daily performance expectations, assign work, provide timely feedback, and hold team members accountable for results and behaviors.
- Coordinate packaging schedules, staffing, and production priorities based on finished-product availability, customer orders, packaging-material availability, equipment readiness, and shipment requirements.
- Oversee packaging activities that may include filling, weighing, sealing, wrapping, labeling, container preparation, palletizing, sampling, material staging, and finished-product handling.
- Ensure finished battery materials and energy-storage products are packaged according to approved product specifications, customer requirements, and established work instructions.
- Verify the accuracy of product identification, labels, weights, quantities, lot information, containers, seals, documentation, and other traceability requirements.
- Ensure packaged products meet established standards for container integrity, cleanliness, protection, presentation, and shipment readiness.
- Maintain product identity and lot traceability throughout the packaging and staging process.
- Prevent product contamination, material mixing, incorrect labeling, packaging damage, and other conditions that could affect finished-product quality or customer acceptance.
- Monitor production performance and key performance indicators related to safety, quality, packaging accuracy, throughput, labor efficiency, equipment uptime, waste, rework, schedule attainment, and cost.
- Ensure operators consistently follow standardized work instructions, packaging specifications, quality controls, material-handling procedures, and escalation requirements.
- Confirm that packaging materials, containers, labels, pallets, liners, seals, and other supplies are available and appropriate for scheduled production.
- Coordinate with Production teams to manage the transfer of completed materials and products into the packaging process.
- Partner with Warehouse and Logistics teams to ensure finished products are properly identified, staged, stored, and released for customer shipment.
- Partner with Quality to address packaging defects, labeling errors, weight discrepancies, damaged containers, traceability issues, contamination concerns, and other nonconforming conditions.
- Ensure nonconforming or potentially affected products are promptly identified, contained, documented, and escalated.
- Partner with Maintenance and Engineering teams to improve packaging-equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and support preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Identify and resolve production bottlenecks, equipment interruptions, labor constraints, packaging-material shortages, and workflow issues affecting customer-ready output.
- Support equipment startups, shutdowns, changeovers, production trials, and the introduction of new packaging equipment, materials, products, or processes.
- Participate in safety and quality incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Review production records, downtime information, quality results, customer requirements, and operator feedback to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Lead shift meetings, communicate safety topics and production priorities, and ensure effective operational handoffs between shifts.
