Role Description

The Mechanical Technician role is a full-time, on-site position based at the Nordex manufacturing and training facility in West Branch, IA. This role focuses on assembling, maintaining, and repairing mechanical components for wind turbine hubs, drive trains, and machine houses. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing mechanical installations, conducting inspections, executing preventive maintenance, and diagnosing mechanical issues on production and training equipment. The Mechanical Technician will work with technical documentation, tools, and test equipment, collaborate with engineering and training staff, and support hands-on training activities when needed.

The role requires adherence to safety standards, quality procedures, and production schedules in a fast-paced, industrial environment.

Qualifications
  • Strong mechanical skills in equipment maintenance, general maintenance, and maintenance & repair.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance, including routine inspections, servicing, and documentation of mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical issues, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Familiarity with industrial tools, measuring instruments, and safety practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Relevant technical training or certification in mechanical technology, industrial maintenance, or a related field; an associate degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Comfort working at heights or around large industrial equipment when required, following all safety protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
