The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship seeks a Watershed Coordinator to oversee water quality conservation projects across Story County and regional areas. Based in Nevada at the USDA Service Center, the role involves collaborating with farmers, landowners, and multiple Soil and Water Conservation Districts to implement best management practices and monitor the effectiveness of conservation initiatives supporting Iowa's Nutrient Reduction Strategy.
Keyqualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in natural science or equivalent combination of experience and education in environmental, radiation control, environmental health, or food sanitation programs
- Strong working knowledge of agriculture with experience or background in agronomy, soil conservation, nutrient management, or agricultural operations preferred
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders including farmers, landowners, cooperatives, retailers, and government agencies
- Proficiency in technology and tools such as GIS for project management and evaluation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for water conservation and environmental stewardship
