We are seeking a skilled Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist specializing in Anesthesiology for a 42-day locum tenens assignment in Iowa. Starting Apr 13, 2026, this position offers a weekly schedule with on-site shifts Monday through Thursday and on-call coverage for obstetrics and general surgery from Friday to Sunday. The assignment requires the ability to work independently in a rural, high-acuity environment and manage a diverse case mix, including high-risk obstetrics, general surgery, urology, cataracts, and healthy pediatric patients.

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist - Schedule:
- Monday: 7am - 4pm, 2-4 cases/day (light scope)
- Tuesday: 11am - 3pm, 2-4 cases/day (big gaps between cases)
- Wednesday: 7am - 4pm, OB call coverage + cataracts and ENT (done by 11am), 11-13 cases/day (cataracts and ENT not every week, but OB call is)
- Thursday: 7am - 4pm, orthopedic cases, 2-4 cases/day (gaps between cases)
- Friday-Sunday:
On-call for OB coverage, occasional general surgery
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide anesthesia care for high-risk obstetric cases
- Perform and manage own regional anesthesia blocks
- Administer anesthesia for general surgery, urology, orthopedic, cataract, and ENT procedures
- Deliver anesthesia services for healthy pediatric patients, primarily for tonsillectomies and similar ENT cases
- Prescribe medications and manage perioperative care as required
- Work independently in a rural setting with high acuity cases
- Maintain required certifications and adhere to facility protocols
Additional Information
- Must be able to perform own blocks and obstetric anesthesia
- Comfortable working independently in a rural, high-risk OB environment
- Required certifications:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Required board certification:
Anesthesiology - Iowa license required
