Overview
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of State-Operated Specialty Care, Bureau of Civil Commitment Unit for Sex Offenders (CCUSO) is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This is a full-time position which generally requires the RN to work either PM shift (1:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.) or overnight shift (9:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m. or 10:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m.) with a rotating schedule that includes working every third weekend.
There may be times the RN will be required to work outside of these hours and to work overtime.
This position is eligible for a $3,000 recruitment payment. Speak to the Hiring Manager for more eligibility information. Current state employees are not eligible for recruitment payments upon transfer, demotion, or promotion to another agency.
Responsibilities- The RN provides general nursing care to a specific high-risk population, including direct acute and chronic nursing care, health promotion, disease prevention, health education strategies across the lifespan, treatment of patients through therapeutic activities, providing psychological support and direction, escorting patients, and accurate documentation of patient s behaviors and attitudes.

CCUSO provides a secure, long-term, and highly structured setting to treat sexual offenders who have served their prison terms, but, in a separate civil trial, have been found likely to reoffend. The facility offers state-of-the-art treatment to lower the risk of re-offending and to release patients from confinement as quickly as possible. A full range of diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitative services is focused on addressing the conditions impacting a patient s likelihood of re-offending.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa by the Iowa Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact Administrator s Agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
