Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist

About The Job

The CRNA is directly responsible for the administration of anesthesia to surgical patients while doing pre‑operative evaluations and selecting appropriate anesthetics. The CRNA assures proper administration of anesthetic while monitoring the patient during the course of surgery, as well as follows the patient postoperatively. The CRNA will collaborate effectively with surgeons, medical staff, surgery staff and administration.

1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week. Monday through Friday, no call, weekends or holidays.

Salaried

• Education:
  • Graduate from an approved school of nursing and hold a current state licensure as a registered nurse.
  • Graduate from a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the AANA Council of Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor.
  • Successfully completed the certification examination administered by the AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists or its predecessor.
• Additional Requirements:
  • Proof of current licensure as a Registered Nurse, and Advanced Practice Nurse, active practice as a CRNA, and appropriate continuing education to maintain licensure.
  • Compliance with state requirements regulating the advanced practice of nursing.
  • DEA Registration and Iowa Controlled Substances Certificate.
  • Active Member of AANA preferred.
• Experience:
  • Minimum five (5) years experience in a rural hospital setting preferred.
• Special Skills and Aptitude:
  • ACLS, BLS, PALS
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities and possesses good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
