Travel Labor and Delivery RN – Cherokee, Iowa

Fusion Medical Staffing‑Nursing is seeking a Travel Nurse Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13‑week assignment in Cherokee, Iowa. As a member of our team, you will provide patient‑centered care during labor and delivery, support obstetric teams, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Summary

The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse provides comprehensive patient care in obstetric setting. This role encompasses assessing maternal/fetal health, administering treatments, collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure high‑quality, patient‑centered care during labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum period. It requires strong clinical skills, critical thinking, excellent communication, and commitment to patient safety and professional ethics.

Essential Work Functions
  • Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments per obstetric nursing techniques
  • Prepare equipment and aid physician during labor, delivery, and examinations
  • Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn
  • Educate patients/families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members
  • Respond to obstetric emergencies using evidence‑based protocols
  • Document patient care, assessments, interventions accurately in medical record
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal/neonatal outcomes
  • Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results
  • Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures
  • Comply with regulatory standards, hospital policies, state laws, federal guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned within scope of labor and delivery nursing
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum one year recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification
  • STABLE and ACLS Certifications (AHA/ARC)
  • Other certifications/licenses may be required

  • Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and PC skills
