Overview

Delivers nursing care by developing a nursing diagnosis, establishing nursing care objectives, defining nursing interventions, and providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends. Helps patients understand conditions, medications, and self‑care skills, notes changing conditions, and re‑evaluates care objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions, communicating the nursing care plan, coordinating with other health care providers, and offering physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends. Confers with physicians.
  • Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, documenting physical condition and psychological status, and considering social factors. Consults with families and friends; establishes a nursing diagnosis; sets objectives; and defines interventions, schedules, and timetables.
  • Teaches healthcare requirements by establishing patient care goals; instructs patients, families, and friends on conditions, medications, and self‑care skills; answers questions; and provides information and resources.
  • Evaluates patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care standards, reviewing records, noting changes, re‑evaluating objectives, and modifying the nursing care plan.
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by following infection‑control policies, medication administration and storage procedures, controlled substance regulations, and all organizational standards and laws. Alerts others of potential concerns.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Ensures patient care equipment operates by following instructions, troubleshooting, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
  • Until supplies are ready by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and stocking items.
  • Maintains competence in nursing capabilities outlined by leadership.

The candidate must be able to work the hours specified and perform each essential job function. This includes having adequate visual acuity, and the ability to see, communicate, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds. Required

Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience
  • Registered Nurse (RN) – Board of Nursing. Active license in the state of practice upon hire.
Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience
  • 1‑3 years of experience working in a clinical environment.
