Pay Details

Hours per pay period: 46.5. Pay Rate: $58.40–$75.81 (subject to shift differential, experience, education or other factors).

Summary

The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care and collaborates with patients, families, peers, physicians and the interdisciplinary team in the delivery of healthcare services. The RN assesses patient needs, plans care, implements and evaluates medical and nursing regimens according to hospital philosophy, policies and standards, demonstrating leadership and professional accountability.

Essential Functions
  • Understand and adhere to WPH Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors.
  • Provide respectful care that promotes mutual respect, shared decision‑making and informed consent, respecting patients’ autonomy and dignity across all protected classes.
  • Deliver respectful birthing care (L&D RN) and manage NICU infant transport.
  • Utilize the nursing process to meet age‑specific needs (biophysical, psychosocial, education, safety/environment, and discharge planning).
  • Apply appropriate decision‑making steps for patient care and unit‑based issues.
  • Administer blood and blood products in accordance with policy.
  • Collaborate and communicate with the interdisciplinary health‑care team.
  • Integrate patient rights and nursing ethics into practice.
  • Adhere to infection control standards to reduce nosocomial infections.
  • Follow Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Delegate activities to ancillary staff per State Nurse Practice Act.
  • Adhere to the ANA Code of Nursing Ethics and Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice.
  • Support, promote, and practice within the WPH Professional Nursing Practice Model.
  • Sustain and advance the Magnet model.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement initiatives.
  • Complete competency requirements and attend mandatory in‑services and staff meetings.
  • Use cost‑containment practices.
  • Assume Charge Nurse responsibilities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • BSN required; MSN < 1year preferred, 1–3years preferred.
  • 1year of acute care experience (excluding medical‑surgical/step‑down) required.
  • Knowledge of current nursing, medical and health trends and practices (medium proficiency).
  • Assessment, problem‑solving, judgment and decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to adapt in high‑stress, fast‑paced environments with interruptions.
  • Alertness to emergency sounds/signals and continuous operation of computer/equipment.
  • Concentration on detailed tasks for >60minutes.
  • Understanding of theories behind related concepts and recall of multiple tasks per day.
  • Board certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and oncology nursing certifications (e.g., AOCNP, AOCNS, AOCN, BMTCN, CPHON, CPON, CBCN, OCN) as applicable.
  • Required certifications by department and tenure (details below).
Certification Requirements
  • BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association – required.
  • ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support – American Heart Association – required for all RNs (except NICU & OR) within 1year; for experienced RNs within 180days.
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support – American Heart Association – required for all newly hired inexperienced RNs working in PACU, 5I Pediatrics, ER, Armonk Urgent Care, Ambulatory Surgery & 226 Ambulatory Surgery Center within 1year; for experienced RNs within 6months (180days).
  • NRP Neonatal Resuscitation Program – American Heart Association – required for all RNs in Mother‑Baby unit, Labor & Delivery, and NICU within 6months; for NICU, L&D, Mother‑Baby newly hired RNs within 6months; for 5I pediatric RNs within 180days; for all newly hired RNs in NICU, L&D and Mother‑Baby within 180days; for all RNs working on 5I within 180days.
  • Oncology nursing certification (e.g., AOCNP®, AOCNS®, AOCN®, BMTCN®, CPHON®, CPON®, CBCN®, OCN®) or 36 cancer‑related CE credits every 3years (maintained by department manager). Required within 1year; preferred within 1year.
  • Emergency Department de‑escalation training required within 1year of hire.
