Pay Rate/Range: $58.41 - $75.81 per hour (subject to shift differential, experience, education, or other factors).

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care, collaborates with patients, families, peers, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver healthcare services, and assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care in accordance with hospital policies and nursing standards. The RN demonstrates leadership, professional accountability, and commitment to growth.

Essential Functions
  • Understand and adhere to WPH Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors.
  • Provide respectful care for all patients, promoting mutual respect, shared decision‑making, and informed consent, respecting patient autonomy and dignity regardless of protected characteristics.
  • Provide respectful birthing care (L&D RN), ensuring mutual respect, shared decision‑making, and informed consent.
  • Provide NICU infant management, including inter‑facility transport.
  • Utilize the nursing process to meet age‑specific needs: biophysical, psychosocial, education, safety/environment, and discharge planning.
  • Apply decision‑making processes to recognize and prioritize patient care and unit‑based issues.
  • Administer blood and blood products according to policy.
  • Collaborate and communicate with the interdisciplinary health‑care team.
  • Integrate patient rights and nursing ethics into practice.
  • Adhere to infection control standards to reduce nosocomial infection risk.
  • Adhere to Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Delegate activities to ancillary staff, in line with the State Nurse Practice Act.
  • Adhere to the ANA Code of Nursing Ethics & Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice.
  • Support, promote, and practice within the WPH Professional Nursing Practice Model.
  • Sustain and advance the Magnet model.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement initiatives.
  • Complete mandatory competency requirements, mandatory in‑services, and mandatory mandatory mandatory staff meetings.
  • Utilize cost‑containment practices.
  • Assume Charge Nurse responsibilities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education: BSN required; MSN less than 1 year preferred; 1-3 years preferred.

Experience: 1 year of acute care nursing experience required for areas other than medical‑surgical nursing or step‑down; prior patient experience preferred.

Knowledge: Current nursing, medical, and health trends and practices; medium proficiency.

Assessment

Skills:

Sound problem‑solving, judgment, and decision‑making; ability to adapt in high‑stress, fast‑paced environment with interruptions; ability to respond to emergency sounds/signals; focus on fine detail for 60+ minutes; understanding of related theories and multitasking.

Licensure & Certifications

Registered Nurse – New York State Board of Nursing

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association (required)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – American Heart Association (required for all RNs within 1 year of hire; 180 days for newly hired experienced RNs)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – American Heart Association (required for all newly hired RNs working in PACU, 5I Pediatrics, ER, Armonk Urgent Care, Ambulatory Surgery & 226 Ambulatory Surgery Center within 1 year or 6 months)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – American Heart Association (required for all RNs working in Mother‑Baby unit, Labor & Delivery, NICU, and newly hired nurses in NICU, L&D, mother‑baby; must be obtained within 6 months or 1 year depending on role)
  • Oncology RNs – current cancer‑specific certification (e.g., AOCNP®, AOCNS®, AOCN®, BMTCN®, CPHON®, CPON®, CBCN®, OCN®) or 36 continuing education hours every 3 years.
  • Emergency Department RNs – de‑escalation training within 1 year of hire to transfer to the Emergency Department.
