Registered Nurse (RN) - Intermediate Medical Care (IMC)

Job Type: Full Time |

Schedule:

3x12, nights (7p-7a). Sign On Bonus Based on Eligibility.

About the Unit

The IMC is a 14‑bed unit that provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Responsibilities
  • Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatments.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living (personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, circumstances.
  • Advocates for patient physical and emotional well‑being.
  • Floats to other departments as needed to maintain safe nurse‑to‑patient ratios.
  • Manages ventilators, CPAP/BIPAP, vapotherms.
  • Titrates and maintains critical drips on the ICU patient, with knowledge of indications, contraindications, and side effects.
  • Passes rhythm recognition test within 90 days of hire/transfer.
Qualifications
  • Current Kentucky or compact state RN license.
  • Associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (Bachelor's degree preferred).
  • Certifications:

    Basic Life Support (BLS) within one month of hire;
    Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within one year of hire;
    Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within one year of hire;
    Handle with Care within 30 days of orientation.
