Overview
When unit is full, LPN will work with RNs with highest acuity or will be paired with an RN who has a heavy patient load. When the UNL has patients, the LPN will be paired with the UNL to assist with the UNL patient load. LPN tasks may include oral meds, IV piggyback meds, trach care, dressing changes, and documentation on assessments and care plans after the RN has completed the first assessment and initiated the care plan.
Qualifications- Certifications:
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR);
Basic Life Support (BLS) mandatory within 30 days – American Heart Association (AHA). - Education:
College Diploma – Licensed Practical Nurse (Mandatory). - Work Experience:
Not Specified.
- Pass all medications, hang IV piggybacks and fluids, excluding IV Push meds.
- Chart assessments on assigned patients after RN has charted the initial assessment.
- Chart care plans opened by RN; coordinate new care plans as needed.
- Communicate with physicians/APPs to receive orders and coordinate patient care.
- Complete dressing changes and trach care as needed.
- Insert and care for NG tube and feedings through the NG tube.
- Care for and change ostomy.
- Reinforce education and discharge instructions.
- Complete annual education as assigned to comply with DNV Hip and Knee Replacement Program requirements (if applicable).
The compensation range for this position is $23.90 per hour – $39.91 per hour. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts and compensation model.
