Job Summary
Nursing Assistant (NA) – The Nursing Assistant serves as a caregiver for residents in long‑term care, providing resident‑centered nursing care and daily living assistance under RN supervision. The position is part of the Good Samaritan Society in Holstein, IA, a small facility affiliated with Sanford Health.
Work Shift: 8 Hours – Evening Shifts (United States)
Hours per week: 40 Compensation: Salary range $19.00 – $25.50 per hour Union Position: No

- Assist with basic health care needs including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support.
- Assist resident in transferring, repositioning, and walking using proper transfer techniques and equipment, as well as providing range of motion and passive exercises.
- Complete tasks related to food preparation and dining, creating a positive dining experience; assist with meals and snacks and provide water and supplements as appropriate.
- Aid providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed.
- Document resident interactions and outcomes related to resident care, behavior, activity, and dietary.
- Communicate changes in resident condition and care concerns to the charge nurse.
- Collect non‑invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs.
- Provide housekeeping and laundry support for resident living areas.
- Assist and document participation in wellness and recreational programs.
- Participate in departmental or organizational committees and task forces as needed.
- High school graduate or GED (preferred, not required).
- Minimum age 16.
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long‑term care preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification within four months of start; enrollment in a training program acceptable.
- CNA training and certification provided by facility.
- Complete yearly department‑specific competency testing.
- Maintain continuing education credits: minimum 12 hours annually.
- Maintain all department‑specific required certifications.
- For applicable states, be certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
- Driver’s license and valid motor‑vehicle report may be required if the role includes driving duties.
- Medically qualified to perform essential driving functions, per Sanford Driving Policy.
