SCHEDULE:

Full-time; 36 hours per week;
Monday - Friday; 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

The RN utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct quality patient care in the Outpatient Clinic/Specialty Clinic setting. He/she directs and provides patient/family teaching. The RN provides leadership when working with health team members in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.

Requirements

Graduate from an approved professional Registered Nursing Program. Possesses current Iowa Registered Nurse license;
Certification in Basic Life Support is required within 3 months of date of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification is required for cardiology clinic. Possesses technical skills and knowledge of equipment mechanisms necessary to deliver quality nursing care; demonstrates knowledge of and commitment to policies and procedures of Nursing Service and the Hospital and Clinic.

Summary

Ability to learn all specialty clinics. Applies knowledge of illnesses, injuries and diseases, using available resources in the assessment process. Documents nursing assessments and intervention, etc. Communicates information to peers, supervisors, physicians. Organizes patient care, family/patient teaching and other assigned duties. Administers medications, IV's, treatments and assists with procedures according to policy and procedure. Functions effectively in emergencies. Obtains and insures consents when appropriate.

Utilizes decision-making processes to evaluate care management of patient/family/significant other and intervene or discuss care with physician/care giver as appropriate. Competent within scope of practice for care of all ages of patients (infant, pediatric, adult, geriatric). Identifies and initiates appropriate patient/family education following assessment of learning needs including disease process, medication therapy, tests and procedures.
