Job Schedule

Full-time: 36 hours/week, Monday - Friday

  • Four days a week
  • Set day off, after orientation period is complete.

Hours:

7:45 AM - 5:15 PM

Includes the following:

  • Limited Saturday morning rotation.
  • No holidays.
Job Description Primary duties for this position include:
  • Provides patients with quality care through patient interviewing, professional communication, and utilization of physical assessment skills.
  • Utilizes previous clinical experience and knowledge to anticipate patient care problems and solutions.
  • Prepares patient for exams and procedures.
  • Promotes teamwork throughout the clinic by cooperating with others and helping out as necessary to ensure efficient clinic operations.
  • Provides cross coverage in all clinic areas as needed.
  • Follows all policies and procedures as outlined in the MCHC handbook and the Rural Health Clinic P&P Manual.
  • Provides the patient with safe, accurate lab testing by performing and conducting tests correctly, maintains quality control on lab equipment and tests.
  • Accurately prepares tests that are being sent out.
  • Adheres to safe, accurate practice of medication administration as directed by the physician/provider.
  • Monitors equipment maintenance protocol, identifies problems, and coordinates appropriate repairs with the clinic nursing team lead.
  • Demonstrates medical clinic duties to the maximum benefit of the patient and the physician/provider.
  • Provides ideas and resources with teammates to increase efficiency of the medical clinic.
  • Maintains stocked exam rooms and work areas in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Plays an active role in keeping supplies stocked by utilizing the two bin system appropriately.
  • Consistently places orders (charges) for tests and injections performed in order to accurately bill for the services.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and adherence to all OSHA and Infection Control Policies.
  • Maintains patient and hospital confidentiality.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ongoing compliance with MCHC educational and training requirements.
  • Adheres to the MCHC mission, vision, values, and Standards of Behavior.
  • Maintains patient and hospital confidentiality.
  • Promotes and maintains positive relationships with patients, visitors, coworkers, and providers.
  • Actively participates in department huddles, in-services, meetings, and educational opportunities.
  • Follows all departmental policies and procedures and adheres to departmental budget.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current and unrestricted licensure as a Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical or Registered Nurse by the Iowa Board of Nursing.
  • BLS and Mandatory Reporting Certified or within 90 days of hire.
  • Overall attention to detail, organizational ability, and ability to prioritize.
  • The ability to work in teams and communicate accurately and clearly.
  • Computer experience using Microsoft Office 2007 Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Proficient in English in order to communicate with patients, families, and other caregivers.
