Position Summary:

The Tripoli Community School District is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and service-oriented Long-Term Substitute School Nurse to provide comprehensive school health services and support the health, safety, and well-being of students throughout the school district.

The Long-Term Substitute School Nurse will provide nursing services during the assignment period and will work closely with students, families, administrators, teachers, special education staff, and community health-care providers. The position is responsible for providing appropriate health assessments, first aid, medication administration, care coordination, health education, documentation, and management of student health needs in accordance with applicable laws, professional standards, district policies, and individual health plans.

The successful candidate will demonstrate sound clinical judgment, strong communication skills, compassion, confidentiality, and the ability to work effectively with students of varying ages and health needs. The nurse will serve as an important member of the school team and contribute to maintaining a safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment.

The Long-Term Substitute School Nurse will work cooperatively with building administrators, teachers, counselors, special education personnel, families, health-care providers, and other district staff to ensure students' health needs are appropriately assessed, documented, communicated, and addressed.

• Associate degree or diploma in nursing required.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
• Additional coursework or education related to school nursing, pediatrics, public health, OR community health is desirable.
• Current Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• Current CPR/AED and first aid certification preferred.
• Current mandatory reporter training as required by Iowa law and district policy.
• Must maintain all required professional licensure and certifications throughout employment.

• Previous nursing experience preferred.
• Pediatric, school nursing, community health, public health, or clinical experience is desirable.
• Experience caring for students with chronic health conditions, disabilities, or special health-care needs is beneficial.
• Experience with medication administration, health assessments, emergency response, and health documentation preferred.

• Provide professional nursing services to students in accordance with Iowa law, professional nursing standards, district policies, and established school health procedures.
