Federal Foam Technologies, an industry leader in custom fabrication of flexible cellular and plastic materials, is looking for a Quality Tech I to join our team in Northwood, Iowa.
Summary:Quality Technicians make sure that everything from raw materials to finished products meet the specifications in the quality documentation and that safety standards are being followed. This is accomplished through daily rounds (in which the technician verifies that requirements in the Job Traveler C=0 are being met by production personnel), Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIR’s), and tooling inspections.
The Quality Technician must be observant and very good at paying attention to detail. The position requires tact and discretion to point out problems to production workers. Good communication skills are important to explain findings clearly so they are understood by others and to motivate others to improve the quality of their work.
This person is a valuable individual within the organization as they are a key component of ensuring quality product is being produced through day to day audits and inspections. The Quality Technician shall also serve as liaison between the Quality Assurance Department and Manufacturing Department.
Job Responsibilities:- Perform in process audits; check and verify that product meets customer standards and specifications, measure product, make quality decisions on product to ensure that it meets customer expectations.
- MRB team member, review and give direction to products being reviewed in MRB
- Inspect incoming materials from outside suppliers/vendors
- Perform tooling, die and tooling location inspections
- Perform Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIR’s)
- Other duties may be assigned
- High School Diploma/GED, 6 months but less than 1 year of quality related experience or training.
- Blueprint Reading and ability to use steel rules, tape measure, micrometer and caliper squares, ability to convert between metric units and US customary units.
- Basic computer knowledge including Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Good communication skills are important to explain findings clearly to employees so they understand the issues that have happened and they can improve the quality of their work.
