Position: Campus Store Associate GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Location: Estherville

This is a part-time position, (27.5 hours/week), located on the Emmetsburg campus with occasional evening or extended hours during peak periods. This position is expected to cover the Estherville campus when needed. The Campus Store Associate serves as a key customer service and operational support team member in the Campus Store. The position supports daily retail operations, student services, online order fulfillment, inventory management, and campus engagement initiatives while helping create a welcoming and service-oriented environment for students, employees, and visitors.

This role assists with apparel and merchandise sales, online store operations, student account purchases, mail and package distribution, and seasonal campus activities. The position requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced college environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (% OF THE TIME):

Constant (67-100%)

* Provide outstanding customer service to students, employees, alumni, and visitors.

* Assist customers with apparel, merchandise, gifts, supplies, online orders, and general Campus Store inquiries.

* Operate point-of-sale systems, process transactions, balance cash drawers, and complete daily reconciliation procedures.

* Receive, stock, organize, and maintain merchandise displays and storage areas.

* Assist with inventory management, including receiving shipments, tagging merchandise, restocking, and monitoring inventory levels.

* Support online store operations, including order fulfillment, packaging, shipping, and customer communication.

* Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing retail environment.

* Assist with mail and package distribution processes for campus operations, including communication with students, faculty and staff for package pick-up.

* Process all outgoing mail for the College, including USPS and UPS or other services as needed.

* Utilize store management and college software systems to complete transactions, invoicing, and reporting functions.

* Represent Iowa Lakes in a professional, positive, and student-centered manner.

Frequent (34-66%)

* Assist with apparel and merchandise ordering, seasonal inventory transitions, and promotional displays, as needed.

* Verify pricing accuracy and assist with inventory audits and reporting.

* Assist with social media promotions, campus marketing initiatives, and special retail campaigns as assigned. Including the use of the My Iowa Lakes Portal for communication.

* Support student engagement events, orientation activities, move-in days, and campus events.

* Contribute ideas for improving customer experience, retail operations, and merchandising strategies.

* Compile reports and assist with operational documentation as requested by supervisor.

* Assist with coverage scheduling and communication regarding store operations.

Occasional (10-33%)

* Work additional hours during peak registration, back-to-school, holiday, and special event periods.

* Contact vendors regarding order discrepancies, returns, damaged merchandise, or shipping issues.

* Assist with campus-wide promotions, pop-up sales, and special events.

* Crosstrain and provide operational support during staff absences or high-demand periods.

* Perform additional duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

* Strong commitment to customer service and student engagement.

* Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with students, employees, vendors, and the public.

* Basic knowledge of retail operations, cash handling, and inventory practices preferred.

* Experience with computer software systems including point-of-sale systems, spreadsheets, word processing, and email communication.

* Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

* Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team environment.

* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

* Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
