OverviewAs a cashier you will be part of a growing innovative brand that prides itself on providing best‑in‑class customer service. You will provide fast and friendly service, assist customers with questions and requests, operate the cash register, package product, work with drive‑up and/or carry‑out, and replenish product as needed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all interactions.
- Smile and greet customers, learn their names, and address them by name whenever possible.
- Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing items that are out of reach, loading or unloading heavy items, and passing along suggestions or requests.
- Answer the telephone promptly and provide friendly service to callers.
- Work with co‑workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
- Operate the cash register accurately, scan product, redeem promotional coupons, food stamps, WIC checks, issue rain checks, receive cash, checks, complete credit‑card transactions, and issue receipts.
- Place merchandise in bags or boxes, give packages to customers, and assist courtesy personnel as needed.
- Answer customer questions and concerns and follow up with appropriate personnel.
- Understand and follow local, state, and company policies on sales of tobacco, liquor, and lottery tickets, and on WIC and food stamps.
- Know item values, look‑up numbers, department numbers, and features of items for which money is received.
- Stock, face, rotate merchandise, clean shelves, understand shelf tags, and locate merchandise in the store and back room.
- Maintain a clean register area, ensure supplies are ready, and report improper cash levels in the drawer.
- Compare register totals with cash on hand at the beginning and end of shift to verify balances.
- Know proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and neat.
- Adhere to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
- Report to work when scheduled and on time.
- Assist store management with displays, decorations for special promotions/events.
- Explain code dates on perishable items to customers.
- Change register tape and ribbons as necessary.
- Assist in other store areas as needed.
- Perform other job‑related duties and special projects as required.
- Follow detailed written or verbal instructions involving few concrete variables.
- Perform arithmetic calculations with fractions, decimals, and percentages.
- Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request supplies verbally or in writing.
No education or experience requirements.
Physical Requirements- Exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
- Perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
- Visual requirements: vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet, color vision, depth perception, and field of vision with or without correction.
This position is frequently exposed to temperature extremes and possible dampness, equipment movement hazards from a pallet jack, electrical shock, and exposure to chemicals and solvents. The work environment is fast paced.
Equipment Used to Perform Job- Pallet jack, box cutter, cash registers, trash compactor, forklift, calculator, telephone, intercom, cardboard compactor, copier, fax (within wage and hour guidelines).
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre‑employment drug screen.
