Position Overview

Meijer is looking for a dynamic Customer Service Department Manager to lead, inspire, and drive operational excellence within our East and West Grand Rapids store locations. The manager will direct Leads and Team Leaders, be accountable for area operations and financials, and serve as steward of the Meijer culture.

Responsibilities
  • Engage team members in span of care to ensure they receive appropriate onboarding, training, development, coaching and feedback.
  • Identify talent and conduct career discussions to support overall store staffing and build a diversified talent pipeline for team member and leadership roles.
  • Facilitate candid discussions with team members to uphold Meijer standards and support their growth within the organization.
  • Own area operations and financial results by executing corporate plans to maximize sales and productivity, including responsibility for budget line items in the P&L.
  • Drive safety and compliance throughout the store, manage condition management, and ensure adherence to all compliance procedures.
  • Ensure Team Leaders and Leads assign daily work, provide guidance, and address training needs.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and serve as steward of the Meijer culture.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
  • Progressive leadership experience preferred.
  • Passion to provide industry‑leading service.
  • Strong communication skills for clear guidance and direction.
  • Analytical ability to interpret financial and statistical information for informed decisions.
  • Leadership experience with emphasis on safe working practices.
  • Proactive, creative thinking applied to business challenges.
  • Understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising to meet customer needs.
  • Strong business acumen and innovative attitude.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where all team members and vendors feel valued and supported.
