Corn Research Associate (Adel, IA)

Stine Seed Company, the nation’s largest independent seed company, is seeking talented individuals for the position of Corn Research Associate at its facility near Adel, Iowa. This is an excellent opportunity to grow with one of the industry’s most respected corn and soybean seed companies.

Position Overview

As a Stine team member, you will perform a variety of tasks associated with developing new improved corn varieties. This includes seed preparation and field activities that will evolve with each season. You should be hard‑working and self‑directed. Some overnight travel is possible. Position

Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with team members and crew leaders
  • Prepare, sort, clean, automate packaging, and label seed for plots and nurseries
  • Learn operation and maintenance of a corn plot planter
  • Learn operation of a corn combine for yield trial data
  • Spray crops, maintain sprayer and equipment
  • Possess or obtain pesticide applicator certification
  • Observe and collect plant data notes
  • Learn hand pollination and harvesting in nursery
  • Work routine weekends during peak seasons; peak season is seven days per week and may include travel to other states during summer months
  • Work in an organized and safe manner independently
  • Perform multiple tasks and coordinate activities
  • Operate forklift if required as part of warehousing activities
  • Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
  • Strong team member, self‑starter with systematic decision‑making, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills, able to work independently
  • Interest in agronomic research
  • High School diploma/GED, Associate of Applied Science, Associate of Science, B.S., or Bachelor’s degree in agronomy
  • Valid driver’s license; may be required to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) in the future
  • Willing and able to work in a variety of areas: field, warehouse, and office
  • Willing and able to stand and sit for extended periods
  • Willing and able to work both outdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet, and dry conditions
  • Willing and able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform repetitive motion or lifting
  • Willing and able to work overtime, including weekend work during seasonal peaks; may include overnight trips and additional travel
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Computer skills and working knowledge of MS programs (Excel, Word, Outlook) considered a benefit
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations
