YSSis seeking energetic night owls to join our team as Part-Time Residential Overnight Float!

As a Float, you’ll provide essential overnight support across YSS’s Child Welfare Emergency Services (CWES) shelters and Residential Addiction Treatment programs. You’ll move between facilities throughout the evening, overnight, and morning hours, helping maintain safe and secure environments, supporting overnight staff, and assisting with the supervision and care of youth and residential clients.

You’ll work alongside a supportive team to create a safe, structured, and respectful environment where young people can feel supported and build confidence. You’ll help with daily routines, build meaningful connections, assist during challenging moments, and provide an extra set of hands wherever they’re needed most. This is an active, independent role—you’ll be moving between facilities, completing security and safety checks, communicating with overnight staff, and responding to needs as they arise.

Because you’re an overnight Float, you must remain awake, alert, and engaged for your entire shift.

What You’ll Do...
  • Keep our facilities safe and secure
    • Float between Crisis Stabilization and Residential Treatment facilities, completing scheduled security and safety checks.
    • Walk between facilities every 15-20 minutes to check in with staff and ensure each location is secure. This may include working outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
    • Complete interior and exterior facility checks, including verifying doors and windows are secured.
    • Time-stamp each facility visit and document required checks.
    • Identify and report safety concerns, security risks, maintenance needs, or other issues.
    • Complete routine vehicle checks and ensure vehicles are fueled or service needs are reported.
  • Support residents and overnight staff
    • Assist Overnight Specialists with supervision and care of residents during late-night and early-morning hours.
    • Interact with residents in a caring, supportive, and respectful manner.
    • Assist with bed checks, morning routines, wake-up, breakfast, showers, and other scheduled activities.
    • Help enforce program expectations consistently, fairly, and appropriately.
    • Assist with crisis intervention and immediately alert on-call staff to medical, behavioral health, or other emergencies.
    • Report unauthorized absences or other significant incidents according to program procedures.
    • Communicate with overnight staff at each facility regarding resident needs, safety concerns, and tasks requiring attention.
  • Help keep our programs running smoothly
    • Complete routine overnight housekeeping and laundry, including linens, towels, and kitchen items.
    • Maintain clean and safe common areas and assist with other basic household tasks as needed.
    • Complete required documentation, checklists, and time-clock records.
    • Participate in supervision, staff meetings, trainings, and other required activities.

This is not a complete list of the responsibilities of this position. Duties may change at any time.

This isn’t a traditional overnight position. You’ll be moving, checking, supporting, and responding throughout the night. Your presence helps ensure our facilities are secure, our overnight teams have backup, and our residents have a safe and supportive environment around the clock.

Who You Are...

You stay calm under pressure, lead with empathy, and know how to set clear, consistent boundaries. You connect easily with youth, think on your feet, and handle challenges with confidence and sound judgment. You’re reliable, team-oriented, and driven to do work that makes…
