Position OverviewWe are actively seeking an experienced Central Office Installer with a strong background in telecom infrastructure, specifically within central office environments. Key Responsibilities- Install, integrate, and commission telecom infrastructure within central office environments.
- Pull, terminate, and fuse DC power cables (typically –48 VDC) from Battery Distribution Fuse Bays (BDFBs) to network elements.
- Perform detailed work on power plant additions, including the installation of secondary power distribution (e.g., GMT, TPA, and TPS fuses).
- Route, secure, and label fiber optic (SM/MM) and copper (Cat5e/6, coax, DSX) cabling per engineering standards and cable matrix documentation.
- Install and test sync equipment, including BITS clocks, timing distribution panels, and DS1/SSU sync interfaces.
- Terminate and test fiber connectors (LC/SC/ST), copper punch-downs (110/66 blocks), and coaxial terminations with proper RF specs.
- Use test equipment such as OTDRs, fiber scopes, TDRs, power meters, and Fluke testers to verify installation integrity.
- Read and interpret rack elevation diagrams, MOPs, circuit layouts, and AT&T engineering packages (CFRs, IORs).
- Ensure full compliance with AT&T TP standards and industry best practices (GR‑1275, GR‑487, etc.).
- Document all installation work using site-specific and AT&T-required forms, including redlines and as‑builts.
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience in a Central Office installation role.
- Proven experience with DC power systems, BDFBs, and fuse panel installations.
- Extensive knowledge of cable management systems (ladder racks, fiber troughs, fiber raceways).
- Ability to work with and terminate various types of cables including fiber, DS1/DS3, Cat6, and power cabling.
- Demonstrated experience with AT&T projects and familiarity with AT&T's installation methodologies and documentation.
- Strong working knowledge of sync signal distribution and equipment (e.g., GPS receivers, PRS/SSU systems).
- Ability to read and understand complex telecom schematics, rack layouts, and BOMs.
