Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic
Overview
Ziegler partners with many reputable technical schools and colleges in the Midwest to prepare students for careers in diesel, heavy equipment mechanics and technology for the agriculture, construction and mining industries. Our internship program provides hands‑on experience diagnosing and repairing a wide variety of equipment while learning from senior technicians in the industry.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Ziegler Intern Technician, you will assist in troubleshooting and repairing heavy diesel engines, construction or agriculture equipment in a shop environment. You will learn to respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed. Scholarship money and paid internships support your development and mentorship from senior level technicians.
Qualifications- Currently enrolled in a 2‑year degree program in diesel engine mechanics, construction and/or agricultural equipment mechanics or related study.
- Maintain good grades and receive positive recommendations from instructors.
- Positive attitude and desire to work as a team player.
- Own mechanic tool set.
- Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Role is safety‑sensitive and subject to a drug test as a pre‑employment requirement.
Physical Requirements
Push/pull up to 50 lbs; lift/carry up to 60 lbs; lift bulky objects; stand, walk, use hands, talk, hear, rotate neck and trunk; climb stairs and ladders; repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, reach overhead and forward; crawl; lift bins; perform high steps and use bolt box.
Working ConditionsWork may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be loud at times.
