What You’ll Do
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes, and electrical systems.
  • Use computer-based diagnostic tools and maintenance software.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns.
  • Maintain accurate service records.
Location & Schedule
  • Iowa Falls Maintenance Garage
  • Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
  • On-call during emergencies or weather events
  • Must live within 45 minutes of Iowa Falls within 5 months of hire
Required
  • Class A CDL (or CDL permit to start; we provide training to earn Class A within 5 months)
  • Drug & Alcohol Testing:
    • Pre-employment drug screen
    • Ongoing participation in random drug/alcohol testing
    • Compliance with all federal regulations
  • Pre-employment physical verifying ability to perform job duties

  • Three years of full‑time work experience in automotive or heavy equipment mechanic work.
  • A total of three years of education and/or full‑time experience (as described in number one), where 30 semester hours of post‑high‑school education in automotive or heavy equipment mechanics equals one year of full‑time experience.
  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes eighteen months of full‑time work as a Mechanic Helper.
