Join Koch Fertilizer Fort Dodge LLC, a leading producer and distributor of fertilizers, located in Fort Dodge, Iowa. We are seeking an Instrument & Electrical Technician to support our sustainable solutions in agriculture, energy, and chemical markets.

- Perform maintenance and preventive maintenance on a variety of instruments, including flow types (D/P, mass, volumetric), level types (pressure, temperature—both RTD and TC), vibration, and variable frequency drives, electric motors, motor control centers, and mechanical relay services.
- Adjust, repair, and install new services on electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic systems, and systems used to indicate and record process conditions.
- Perform predictive precision maintenance to identify and correct mechanical/electrical/instrumentational defects before equipment fails.
- Verify and validate Yokogawa Control Systems, Safety Instrument Systems (SIS), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
- Manage daily maintenance work‑flow activities using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Valve Link, and Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI).
- Experiment with new technologies, systems, solutions, and workflows to challenge the status‑quo, expand knowledge of the fleet and team, and provide optionality to the process.
- Improve, develop, and implement maintenance process improvements and efficiencies.
- Improve and maintain wireless indication instruments, infrastructure, workflows, and processes.
- Travel up to 10% for trainings, collaboration, and support of other sites.
- Experience using computers and tablets for various tasks.
- Experience handling and operating hand tools.
- Serve as a member of the emergency response team as an emergency responder.
- Required to wear PPE as directed (e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection, goggles, hard hats, acid suits, breathing apparatus, gloves, safety boots, respirators, ACR flash suits, encapsulated suits).
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Work in hot, cold, and inclement climate conditions.
- Work in confined spaces with supplied breathing air and congested areas.
- Climb stairs, ladders, ladders on vessels and columns, and ladders associated with scaffolds in excess of 160 feet.
- Experience interpreting electrical drawings and Process Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Experience calibrating, testing, troubleshooting, and installing instrumentation or electrical equipment.
- Instrumentation experience in an industrial and/or chemical environment or military equivalent experience.
- Experience supporting pre‑startup checks of new equipment, including Quality Assurance checks.
- Knowledge of safe work practices—Lock Out, Tag Out (LOTO) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
- Experience with 4160 Volt systems.
- AAS degree in Electromechanical Technology, Instrumentation Technology or Controls, Electrical Power and Controls, or Mechatronics Technology.
