Equipment Operator

Martin Marietta is currently looking for a motivated individual to join our Des Moines Portable Team. This position will have the opportunity to operate a variety of heavy equipment—including haul truck, motor grader, water truck, crane, and more—to bring raw materials from pit to plant in a safe and efficient manner at maximum loading capacity. The role will be based out of Winterset, IA and will involve traveling throughout Central Iowa and Eastern Nebraska to support other plants.

• Operate all mobile equipment, including haul truck, motor grader, water truck, loader, and crane.
• Assist in plant repairs and clean‑up activities.
• Perform pre‑shift safety inspections on equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and service mobile equipment, reporting needed repairs to shop personnel.
• Maintain good housekeeping of equipment.
• Adhere to MSHA and plant safety rules and regulations.
• Perform duties with minimal supervision.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Experience is a plus but not required; training will be provided.
• Bi‑lingual proficiency is a plus.

Larger equipment is typically air‑conditioned. Outside assignments may require working in all weather conditions—heat, cold, wet, or dry—and may expose employees to dust, sand, gravel, diesel exhaust, and other environmental factors.
