Position: AUTOMATION TECHNICIAN TOUR
Location: Nevada

Job Description

At SGPS Show Rig, we specialize in bringing world‑class live events, concerts, and broadcasts to life through precision, creativity, and technical expertise. Joining our team means working as part of a professional touring crew—living on the road, traveling by bus, checking in and out of hotels, and setting up shows in arenas, stadiums, and venues across the country and the world.

Summary
As an Automation Technician, you’ll be the hands‑on backbone of the automation department, ensuring that winches, lifts, and automated show elements are set up, maintained, and operated safely. This role requires technical knowledge of mechanics and electronics, problem‑solving under pressure, and dedication to keeping live productions running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely install, assemble, and operate automation gear and winches on‑site
  • Assist in shop preparations, labeling, packing, and organizing equipment
  • Anticipate and prepare spare gear to avoid tour delays
  • Troubleshoot and repair automation equipment including drives, cables, and controls
  • Perform inspections and maintenance on all automation systems
  • Support emergency procedure training and compliance efforts
  • Maintain professional demeanor and teamwork on tour
Skills & Experience
  • Basic mechanical/electronic knowledge with troubleshooting ability
  • Familiarity with entertainment automation standards
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Readiness to travel extensively and work irregular hours
  • Physical stamina to lift/move equipment in varied environments
  • Willingness to pursue ongoing training in automation
Physical and Social Requirements
  • Our team members must be adaptable, collaborative, and innovative
  • Physically capable of lifting and moving up to 50lbs
  • Thrive in fast‑paced, high‑pressure environments while maintaining professionalism and safety standards at all times

Travel & Schedule

Role requires variable hours that may include nights, weekends, and extended travel based on show and tour schedules.

Certifications & Training

Experience with Kinesys Vector/Array or equivalent

Lockout/Tagout training

OSHA 10 or 30
