Industrial Controls Technician Position Summary

The Industrial Controls Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, programming, and improving electrical and automated control systems within a food manufacturing facility
. This position supports plant maintenance, preventive maintenance, equipment reliability, and automation improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and improve electrical and industrial control systems
    .
  • Program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs, Wonderware systems, VFDs, and industrial control networks
    .
  • Support plant electrical, maintenance, and preventive/predictive maintenance activities.
  • Design and specify electrical equipment for new installations and equipment upgrades.
  • Maintain electrical documentation, including schematics, breaker panel records, PLC/MMI program backups, and PC applications
    .
  • Develop and implement equipment modifications and automation improvements.
  • Complete work orders and respond to equipment breakdowns.
  • Provide technical direction and training to maintenance personnel.
  • Communicate with other shifts to coordinate maintenance activities and equipment repairs.
  • Participate in safety, technology, energy conservation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow all GMP, LOTO, HACCP, OSHA, quality, fall protection, and hot-work requirements
    .
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of industrial electronics training plus 2 years of industrial controls experience OR 4 years of industrial controls experience
    .
  • Strong experience programming and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley PLCs
    .
  • Experience with Wonderware, VFDs, Windows-based systems, Fiber Optic/Ethernet networks, and industrial controls
    .
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with preventive/predictive maintenance and industrial equipment repair.
  • Ability to train and assist other maintenance personnel.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
Work Environment &

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs., bend, twist, stand for extended periods, and climb stairs.
  • Comfortable working in temperatures of approximately 35–45°F or below
    .
  • Must be able to work 8–12 hour shifts, weekends, and mandatory overtime as production needs require.
  • Comfortable working around raw, chilled, processed, and ready-to-eat meat products.
  • Must follow all required food safety, sanitation, GMP, and PPE procedures
    .
