Carpenter I I
Hy-Vee Construction is a dedicated in-house department of construction professionals acting as General Contractor or Construction Manager providing oversight on all of our project types – small remodels, large grocery stores, c-stores, to full distribution centers. Our team manages the full life cycle of projects from budgeting, procurement, build, closeout, through warranty. Here at Hy-Vee Construction we are dedicated to providing excellent customer service to our Operations Teams and are proud to be on the front lines of our company's growth plans.
Completes assigned tasks with minimal guidance from team leader. Helps team leader mentor Carpenter I-II, shows initiative to prepare execute weekly paperwork. Proficient understanding of what it takes to complete all scope, with minimal team leader supervision. Extensive travel, weekly, Monday through Thursday.

Primary duties and responsibilities:
- Completes commercial buildouts (framing, drywall, acoustical ceilings, painting, millwork installation, décor installation)
- Assembles and installs store fixtures
- Initiates work to be performed without direction
- Knowledgeable to what tools needed to complete all tasks
- Behave professionally and politely
- Follow all legal instructions (dress code, health and safety procedures)
- Display company provided PPE
- Maintains good housekeeping
- Maintains punctuality
- Maintains good example for those below you
Knowledge, skills, abilities, and worker characteristics:
- Holds valid driver's license
- Must maintain DOT certification (medical card, physical)
- Strong van/trailer maneuverability
- Practices preparation for all tasks
- Customer service capabilities
- Tool management
- Proficient communication skills

- Trainable for advancement
- Willingness to further education (company provided)
- Forklift training (certified)
- MEWP certified
- OSHA 10 hour
Education and experience:
High school diploma & 1-2 years in the field
Physical requirements:
- Lifting 50-75 lbs.
- Ability to work at heights no higher than 25'
- Ability to climb a ladder
- Ability to lift 25+ lbs above head
Working conditions:
- Interior temperature controlled space
- Adaptable to both warm and cold environments
Equipment used to perform job:
Skilled with a variety of hand tools, table saw, skill saw, miter saw, tape measure, cordless power tools, electric/hydro scissor lifts. Perform work from ladders 4' to 10' manual and electric pallet jack. Adjustable 6' scaffold on wheels.
Contacts:
Makes frequent contact with team leader's/carpenter I II. Communication with setup supervisors. Interaction with customers. Interaction with store personnel. Communication with trade partners.
Confidentiality:
Often you will be asked to work in an active pharmacy. You obligated to follow your HIPA training, viewed in the onboarding video. Working adjacent to monetary transactions, follow all protocol viewed at onboarding.
