Hardwood Flooring Installer / Apprentice Cedar Rapids, IA Area Full-Time | Monday–Friday $18–$35/hour, based on experience | Overtime paid at time-and-a-half

A locally owned, high-end hardwood flooring company in the Cedar Rapids area is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented individual to join its team as hardwood flooring installer. Open to an apprentice.

This is an opportunity to work directly alongside the owner, receive hands‑on training, and learn the complete hardwood flooring process. Most projects are residential, with some commercial work. The company takes pride in delivering quality craftsmanship, paying close attention to the details, and treating each customer’s property with care.

Previous flooring experience is welcome but not required. The owner is willing to train the right person who is dependable, hardworking, comfortable using power tools, and interested in developing a valuable skilled trade.

• Install hardwood flooring in residential and commercial properties
• Sand, stain, seal, and finish hardwood floors
• Prepare floors and work areas for installation or refinishing
• Measure, cut, and fit flooring materials accurately
• Safely operate sanders, saws, hand tools, and other equipment
• Protect customers’ homes, furnishings, and surrounding work areas
• Maintain clean, organized, and professional jobsites
• Load, unload, and transport tools and flooring materials
• Follow established installation, finishing, and safety procedures
• Communicate professionally with the owner, coworkers, contractors, and customers

• Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic
• Careful attention to detail and pride in the finished product
• Willingness to learn, take direction, and develop new skills
• Ability to work independently and alongside the owner as part of a small team
• Experience using hand and power tools, or the ability to learn
• Ability to perform physical work throughout the day, including lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods
• Ability to work respectfully and professionally in customers’ homes
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Ability to travel to jobsites throughout the Cedar Rapids area

Previous experience in flooring, carpentry, construction, remodeling, painting, woodworking, or another hands‑on trade is helpful but not required.

• Full-time, Monday through Friday
• Weekend work is generally not required
• Occasional overtime may be available or required based on project schedules
• All hours worked over 40 are paid at time-and-a-half

• $18–$35 per hour, based on flooring experience and overall skill level
