Location: Nevada
Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, a non-profit public interest law firms is seeking a full time Victim Advocate/Navigator. The Victim Advocate/Navigator will assist with the day-to-day operation of the Resiliency & Justice Center and, under the supervision of the center’s Director, will work to further the Center’s mission to provide victim-centered customer service in identifying the needs of victims of crime for services and then in navigating various social services, medical and mental health providers, insurance carriers, emotional support services, and other community resources as needed for victims and their families.
The Victim Advocate/Navigator’s duties include, but are not limited to, the following.
Conduct Intake and Assessment
- Greet and assist all parties visiting the Center, while maintaining a friendly, calm, helpful attitude and demeanor
- Take all incoming phone calls to the Center, while maintaining a friendly, calm, helpful attitude and demeanor
- Conduct interviews and assessments to identify needs presented by each party’s circumstances
- Utilize mental health first aid training where needed & provide appropriate emergent referral to mental health providers as needed
- Review and analyze any relevant documentation provided to help determine needs of the party
- Identify and categorize the hierarchal needs of the party in order to identify solutions and/or resources to meet those needs
- Utilize intake and survey forms to track the numbers of people assisted, types of assistance provided, and evaluation of services
Navigate Resources
- Assist victims with identifying and utilizing legal and non-legal community-based resources
- Assist party in navigating the various resources to ensure party’s needs are being met, including initial contact or follow-up with providers or resources as needed based on victim’s ability and needs
- Advocate with resources on behalf of victim for services
- Research further social services or community resources to meet the needs of victims
Provide Assistance with Identification and Completion of Forms
- Assist victims with various forms needed to access services and benefits
- Research needed forms and/or information for the needed services
- Review forms and instructions with victims and explain what information is being sought
- Fill out forms with victims based on each individual client’s needs and abilities
- Coordinate directly with various service providers to ensure forms and other requested information is compliant on behalf of victims
Community Outreach & Relations
- Attend various outreach events as needed in order to support the mission of the Center
- Establish and maintain effective and positive relationships with other agencies, community partners, service providers and the public
Provide Responsive Customer Service Internally and Externally
- Work cooperatively in a team environment
- Establish and maintain effective and positive relationships with all team members
- Work effectively with diverse people and groups; listen and communicate effectively and patiently with persons in crisis
- Is able to understand the lives and struggles confronting low-income and vulnerable people in our community
- An empathetic communicator with a positive attitude
- Enjoys being a part of a great team of caring individuals
- Loves challenges, dislikes being bored, and believes drama and gossip belong at the movies or at brunch, not at work
- Bilingual preferred but not required
Starting salary range is $39,000.00-$52,000.00 per year depending upon experience with annual increases available. Our excellent benefits include:

Hours for the center are in-person Monday-Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm.
