Responsibilities
Contribute to the success of a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment by being flexible and adaptable. Use good judgment and exhibit effective problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Provide excellent customer service in all interactions with students, staff, and Center visitors.
- Provide customer service, solve problems, prepare/processing reports and other documents, and provide administrative support for Center Director.
- Handle telephone and walk-in inquiries about programs and services offered by the college including Adult Literacy, BCS non-credit classes and degree programs.
- Conduct intake activities for prospective students, register students for Adult Literacy and BCS non-credit classes, and make appropriate referrals to coaches and advisors.
Use judgment to determine when and whom to contact in case of events that threaten health, safety, and facility. Monitor security and activity in the facilities, handle any issues that arise with the assistance of the Center Director, follow established emergency procedures, take appropriate action to protect health and safety of students/customers, and act to protect the facilities from damage.
Handle telephone inquiries, greet the public and provide information to walk-ins about credit and non-credit services/programming. Anticipate customer needs, offering comprehensive information.
Assist students with completing the FAFSA and financial aid forms.
Develop personal interest classes for the Center. Maintain classes in Lumens software. Assemble instructor packets, class sign-in sheets, class evaluations, etc.
Coordinate center events by organizing facilities and details such as décor, catering, invite lists, special equipment and marketing materials.
QualificationsWork experience and/or some post-secondary education required. Associate degree preferred.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Essential FunctionsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must be a self-starter and possess initiative, customer service skills, and the ability to work independently, especially when assigned to work on nights and weekends. Computer experience in word processing, database, and spreadsheets required. Technology trouble‑shooting experience strongly preferred. Must have excellent organizational abilities, interpersonal, proofreading, and keyboarding skills. Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks. Be able to operate a calculator, copy machine, printer, computer, Zoom technology, and other equipment efficiently and effectively.
