Child Protection Worker
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Family Well-Being & Protection, Bureau of Child Protective Services, is hiring a Child Protection Worker for the Western Iowa Service Area (based out of the Clarke County HHS (109 S Main, Osceola, IA 50213)) covering Osceola and surrounding areas.
Position Details
- Full-time Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
- On-call rotation: evenings, weekends, some holidays
- Telework may be available after a 6-month probation
- Mileage reimbursement: $0.50/mile
- Valid driver's license required
- Background check required
Make a Difference
As a Child Protection Worker, you'll support children and families during critical moments when there has been an allegation of abuse. You'll assess safety, provide guidance, and help families access resources that promote stability and well-being.
What You'll Do
- Assess child safety and risk in homes
- Conduct home visits and interviews, document findings clearly
- Support families in crisis and connect them with resources
- Apply Iowa Code and HHS policy to determine case outcomes
- Testify in court when needed
- Work with caregivers and community partners
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all situations
