We are seeking a talented and motivated Automation Engineer to join our dynamic team.
Key ResponsibilitiesYou will join our dynamic, cross‑functional Design & Engineering team, committed to creating best‑in‑class new products for our customers. We work in an agile way that balances innovation with the rigorous documentation and disciplined development processes required in highly regulated industries.
In this role, you will be actively involved throughout the entire product life cycle from early concept development to final solution delivery working hands‑on to turn ideas into robust, high‑quality products.
As part of a global organisation, we collaborate closely with other engineering teams and are supported by strong governance and compliance frameworks, creating valuable opportunities to learn from specialists across the group.
Key Accountabilities- Developing and implementing automation solutions based on customer requirements and specifications.
- Preparing, maintaining and delivering well‑documented, pre‑tested software code.
- Collaborating with Design and Engineering colleagues to ensure alignment with URS and FDS.
- Supporting production activities including start‑up, adjustments, and testing such as Pre‑FAT.
- Executing upgrades and modifications in collaboration with the service department at customer sites.
- Applying and adapting verified and approved code within projects.
- Reading, understanding, and reusing existing code and technical documentation.
- Troubleshooting and supporting machinery and automation systems.
- Ensuring a high level of documentation throughout all stages of development.
- Collaborating with multiple departments and stakeholders across the organisation.
- Participating in cross‑regional collaboration when required.
- Practical experience with specifying, designing, testing, and troubleshooting of machinery.
- Interest in or experience with industrial automation and PLC programming.
- Understanding of PLC programming concepts (e.g. Ladder Logic, Structured Text or similar).
- Familiarity with PLC platforms such as Omron, Siemens, or similar systems.
- Understanding of integration between PLC, HMI, and industrial equipment (e.g. sensors and actuators).
- Ability to work with and understand existing codebases and technical documentation.
- Strong focus on documentation and structured development practices.
- Interest in object‑oriented programming (e.g. .NET, Java or similar); experience is a plus.
- Interest in relational databases (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server or similar); experience is a plus.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to balance attention to detail with maintaining overall project overview.
