Position Title: Shared Assistant Boys & Girls Golf Coach

Season: Spring (IHSAA & IGHSAU Seasons)

Stipend: Per district schedule B

Saydel High School is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Shared Assistant Boys & Girls Golf Coach to support both the boys and girls golf programs, with a primary emphasis on junior varsity (JV) student-athletes. This position plays a vital role in developing fundamental skills, promoting sportsmanship, and creating a positive team culture aligned with Saydel High School's athletic mission.

The assistant coach will work closely with both head coaches to ensure alignment in instruction, communication, and program goals.

• Plan and lead JV practices, particularly on evenings when both boys and girls varsity teams are competing.
• Provide technical instruction in golf fundamentals including swing mechanics, short game, course management, rules, and etiquette.
• Organize structured practice plans that promote skill development and competitive growth.
• Supervise JV competitions as assigned.
• Collaborate regularly with both Head Boys and Head Girls Golf Coaches to ensure consistency in philosophy, instruction, and expectations.
• Assist in implementing practice plans and program-wide development goals.
• Communicate effectively regarding athlete progress, scheduling, and team needs.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented team environment.
• Emphasize character development, academic accountability, sportsmanship, and leadership.
• Support athletes in setting individual and team performance goals.
• Promote respect for teammates, opponents, officials, and facilities.

• Assist with equipment management and practice setup.
• Ensure proper supervision and safety of student-athletes at practices and meets.
• Support compliance with school district, conference, and state athletic association policies.
• Attend coaches meetings and professional development as required.

• Valid Iowa Coaching Authorization or Endorsement (required).
• Knowledge of golf fundamentals, rules, and instructional techniques.
• Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with multiple coaching staffs.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to independently lead practices.
• Commitment to positive student-athlete development.

• Previous coaching or competitive golf experience.
• Experience working with high school-aged athletes.
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships and foster team culture.
