Street Superintendent & Public Works – City of Ely, Iowa

The City of Ely is seeking a full-time Street Superintendent & Public Works employee to support and coordinate daily public works operations. This hands‑on role is responsible for street maintenance and repair, snow removal, operation and maintenance of heavy equipment and vehicles, traffic control, and upkeep of city infrastructure. Duties also include assisting with water and sewer system maintenance, parks and facilities upkeep, and minor building repairs.

The position works closely with city administration to plan daily activities, prepare reports, and assist with budgeting and capital improvement planning. This role requires regular public interaction, rotating weekend and on‑call duties, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required (Class B within one year).
• Experience in public works, street maintenance, or related fields preferred but not required.

Salary Range: $59,000 – $65,000
