Job Description- Obeys all traffic laws
- Complete CDL and physical requirements
- Maintain current Iowa School Bus Operators permit
- Comply with a random drug and alcohol testing program
- Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses
- Maintains student discipline
- Knowledge of District rules, discipline procedures, and other procedures as related to student conduct
- Reports undisciplined students to the Building Principal and/or Director of Transportation
- Keeps assigned bus clean inside and out
- Keeps to assigned schedule
- Attends schedule meetings
- Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defect and fuels own bus per directives necessary
- Notifies the Director of Transportation in case of mechanical failure
- Discharges students only at authorized stops
- Exercises responsible leadership on all school trips
- Transports only authorized students
- Reports all accidents and completes required reports
- Implements Rules and Regulation as defined in Board Policy
- Requires that all route pickups comply with school Policy and Iowa Code
- Reports any adverse weather or road conditions
- Promotes good public relations in dealing with students and their parents/guardians including maintain an effective level of communication when necessary
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License and Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Acceptable driving record
Self‑motivated to accomplish duties without supervision - Strong communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to establish positive relationships
