QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work with children.
- Good character and emotional stability, including patience, considerateness, even temperament and calmness under stress.
- Current CDL license with proper endorsements including:
Air Brake (Class A or B CDL); passenger (P) and school bus (S), or class D with endorsement 3, or willingness to obtain. - Acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR).
- Acceptable background check.
- Good work record.
- Previous bus driver or related experience preferred.
- Negative results on pre‑employment drug test.
REPORTS TO: Transportation Director
SUPERVISES: Students on the bus/school vehicle.
POSITION GOAL: To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district's curriculum and extracurricular programs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES- Operate the school bus and other school vehicles in a safe and orderly manner in accordance with all State and Federal regulations and school board policies.
- Conduct pre‑trip inspections on the vehicle and its special equipment.
- Report problems to transportation director.
- Drive the bus route on the established schedule, picking up or letting off students at appropriate points and displaying a positive attitude toward the students.
- Complete all reports as required.
- Conduct appropriate safety drills with students.
- Effectively assist students in evacuating in an emergency.
- Operate two‑way radios.
- Obey all traffic laws.
- Report all accidents and complete required reports.
- Clean assigned bus on a regular schedule or as needed to include the exterior of the bus to facilitate proper visibility.
- Have a good working relationship with all other persons.
- Attend to other duties as may be assigned by the Transportation Director.
- Perform random mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work year established by the Board of Education. Pay rate and other benefits as per the negotiated contract.
EVALUATION: Evaluation procedure shall follow Clarke Community School District board policy 411.7.
