Concrete Mixer Truck Driver What you will do
- Drives truck equipped with a concrete mixer to deliver concrete mix to job sites.
- Pre‑trip inspection of the ready‑mix truck pursuant to DOT regulations, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, brakes, and driver‑operated controls.
- Fills the water tank before each delivery by placing a rubber hose into the tank and ensuring all valves are shut.
- Uses a map book and experience to take the most direct route to the job site and ensure on‑time delivery.
- Safely drives the truck to the jobsite and arrives with the desired slump within customer or job specifications.
- Maneuvers the truck in often very unstable ground conditions after arriving on jobsite and makes safe observations of customers’ equipment and conditions.
- Adds necessary ingredients such as fibers, chemical admixtures, cement, or integral colors at the plant or job site, as well as other products.
- Places chutes from fender or hanging rack onto the main chute at the rear of the truck for discharge, washes the chutes after discharge, and restores them to their proper location.
- Washes the truck with a hose and brush at the end of each shift, using an acidic solution when necessary.
- Communicates with dispatch via two‑way radio and the truck status signaling system.
- Calls callout each day for start time.
- Performs a post‑trip inspection of the truck pursuant to DOT regulations.
- Performs other duties assigned by supervisors or management as needed.
- High school diploma (minimum); or one to three months of related experience/training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to pass a Federal DOT drug screen and physical exam.
- Maintain a driving record in accordance with Federal and State motor carrier regulations.
- Ability to handle cash and make change.
- Diplomatic communication skills with customers and employees.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak in English.
- Maintain Department of Transportation health condition compliance.
- Average work hours: 10 hours per day, 4–6 days per week.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs. frequently.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures (C or H).
