The Children’s Ministry Director is a key member of the staff who leads and implements the discipleship strategy for children from birth to 5th grade, in partnership with their families. The Children’s Ministry Director leads the Children’s Ministry Leadership Team to set policy, select curricula, and create ministry structures and offerings in support of the vision to disciple every child to become lifelong followers of Jesus Christ, and to equip families to do the same.
POSITIONRESPONSIBILITIES
- Own and drive the specific ministry offerings to children, such as: children’s Sunday school, Wednesday night GLOW/BLAST, and Vacation Bible School
- Teach children the doctrines of the Reformed faith, pray with them, and lead them in worship
- Lead strategies for FPC to partner with and equip parents and families in the discipleship of their children
- Creatively integrate children into the life of the church as part of our Covenant Community, including but not limited to:
Sunday morning worship, the annual missions conference, and local missions - Lead the Children’s Ministry Leadership Team in strategy, vision, and ministry objectives
Recruit, train, and equip leaders and volunteers for specific roles in the ministry - Manage the church’s CORI background check system across ministries
- Implement and evaluate safety policies pertaining to children’s ministry
- Execute administrative ministry duties, including, but not limited to: acquisition of supplies, managing the CM budget, scheduling, maintaining data and attendance records, and communication with families
The Children’s Ministry Director is a key role that requires a passion to see children growing into fully formed disciples of Jesus. The candidate must be able to effectively interact with children and adults alike. The candidate should possess strong written and verbal communication, strategy building, organizational, as well as people management and leadership skills.
