Job Description:
Ipswich Public Schools is seeking a full-time Health teacher to be shared by the two elementary schools for the 2026/2027 school year. The Elementary Health teacher will use the Health Smart curriculum to teach the 2023 MA Comprehensive Health standards. This will include regular coordination with administrators, Physical Education teachers, school nurses, and School Adjustment Counselors as needed. The Health teacher will teach grades K-5 as well as the 5th grade Human Growth at both elementary schools.
- Deliver health education instruction to elementary students at both Winthrop and Paul
F. Doyon Elementary Schools. - Implement the Health Smart curriculum in alignment with the 2023 Massachusetts Comprehensive Health Standards.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that meet diverse student needs and learning styles.
- Promote the physical, social, and emotional well-being of students through engaging and developmentally appropriate health education.
- Collaborate with school counselors, Physical Education teachers, administrators, and the Director of Teaching and Learning in a second year of our new elementary Health program.
- Assess and monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing feedback and adjusting instruction accordingly. Complete report cards.
- Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages respectful discussion and healthy decision-making.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about classroom activities and student progress.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in health education.
- Travel between the two elementary school sites as part of the shared teaching assignment.
- Fulfill all duties in accordance with district policies.
- Hold valid Massachusetts Health/Family and Consumer Sciences license.
- Knowledge of the 2023 Massachusetts Comprehensive Health and Physical Education Frameworks.
- Demonstrated success in ability to collaborate effectively with administrators and colleagues.
- Must have transportation and be able to drive between the two elementary schools as needed.
Experience teaching at the K-5 level and with Health Smart curriculum.
Job Requirements:- Master degree preferred.
