Private Client Tax Manager

Larking Gowen is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Private Client Tax Manager/Senior Manager or Director to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and direction to our Private Client Tax team, ensuring that we deliver exceptional service to our clients.

• Provide tax advisory services to clients, including managing tax compliance and planning projects.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their tax needs are met.
• Manage a team of tax professionals, driving growth and direction to maintain the highest delivery of first‑class quality and market‑leading services.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant tax legislation and regulations.
• Stay up‑to‑date with changes in tax law and regulations, ensuring that clients are informed and prepared for any changes.
• Participate in business development activities, including proposal writing and client presentations.
• Review and sign‑off on high‑risk tax returns and other related documents.
• Work collaboratively with other departments within the firm to ensure seamless service delivery to clients and drive the Firm’s values and vision with Partners across the firm.
• Lead client contact in place of the partner; responsibility for work planning across the team.
• Involve in recruitment and development of team members; develop long‑term capability and promote consistency with the Firm’s values.
• Actively seek opportunities to develop and grow business within the private client tax team; maintain a strong referral network and write marketing materials.
• Maintain up‑to‑date understanding of clients’ affairs to spot planning opportunities and good working relationships.
• Identify opportunities to sell broader Larking Gowen services; act as ambassador at office marketing events when appropriate.
• Ensure the Firm carries out its professional duties properly and manages risk, acting as a mentor for team members.
• Consistently achieve deadlines and understand the commercial implications of actions relating to productivity, recoverability, fee income and client service.

Education and qualification

• CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent

Experience

• Significant experience within practice
• Strong business acumen and commercial awareness
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team
• Proven ability to adapt quickly to changing deadlines and priorities
• Experience in business development with a track record of securing clients
• Ability to work flexibly as part of a team
• Ability to respond to risks in an appropriate manner
• Experience with CCH software (desired)
• Firm‑wide responsibilities (desirable)
