The role

As second-in-command, you’ll lead the Deck Department and be the Master’s principal deputy. That includes coaching Navigation and Safety Officers and the Bosun/deck crew; setting and sustaining bridge management standards; oversight of passage planning; and serving as stability officer - providing positive stability reports and maintaining vessel integrity. You’ll supervise deck stores and CAPEX requisitions, ensure disciplined, CBA-aligned people management, and stay fully prepared for damage-control and incident response, including investigations with Medical, Safety and Security teams.

accountabilities
  • Lead, mentor and appraise Deck personnel; upholding safe manning and BRM on every watch.
  • Take responsibility for stability, ballast and voyage readiness prior to every departure and throughout the voyage.
  • Take ownership of deck safety & security equipment oversight, inventories and purchasing workflows.
  • Drive incident prevention and investigations; embed continuous improvement.
About you
  • You can demonstrate success as Staff Captain/Chief Officer on passenger ships.
  • You hold an unlimited Master’s license.
  • You can demonstrate excellent situational leadership and communication in English.
  • You have proven ship handling experience, preferably with both prop and azipod.
  • You have a coaching approach to leadership that raises standards across navigation, safety and guest-facing reliability.
