Position Summary
Based in Ipswich, MA the Heat Treater will perform essential job functions associate with heat treatment under the direction of the Production Manager to meet customer specifications including assisting other employees as needed.
Bodycote deems this position safety‑sensitive due to the nature of our business and heavy industrial market.
Eligibility: $1,500 sign‑on retention bonus.
Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 7 am – 3 pm. Position requires full‑time, 40+ hours per week and willingness to work overtime. Candidates must pass a pre‑employment drug screen and basic physical.
Essential Job Functions- Assist with operations, control and monitoring of heat‑treating and related equipment as required and written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.
- Prepare work for processing; load and unload furnaces, bins, fixtures, baskets, etc.
- Bring any unusual problem or irregularity to the attention of supervisor.
- Practice and promote safety and good housekeeping.
- Perform other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
- Responsible for the care and treatment of customer inventory, preventing loss or damage.
- Report to work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co‑workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.
- Must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of metallurgy, temperatures, etc.
- May be required to work overtime or any shift including weekends.
- Must obtain and maintain forklift operation certification.
- Must demonstrate ability to read, write and communicate in English.
- Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity.
- Must have cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
- Must communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files.
- Ability to hear in person and via phone.
The hourly pay range for this position is $20.00 – $30.00 per hour. Starting pay is determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is classified as non‑exempt and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with state and federal law. This role is also eligible for additional compensation, including overtime if required.
