Pump- Boat Operator

Position: Pump-Out Boat Operator
The Town of Ipswich is currently seeking two (2) part-time, seasonal, non-benefited Pump-Out Boat Operators to work on the Town's Federally funded pump-out vessel. The operator's primary duties are to remove waste from moored and/or anchored vessels and transport waste to a shore based facility for disposal. Additionally, operators are responsible for vessel maintenance and may also respond to assist vessels in distress.

Operators are employed seasonally between May and October. Weekly work schedule varies based on weather conditions and tides. Operators typical work 8-hour shifts. A complete job description is available to the right under TOOLS.

Qualifications

Must have boating safety certificate to be considered. Additionally must have: good knowledge of local waterways to include, Ipswich River, Ipswich Bay, Rowley River, Essex River, Castle Neck River and Plum Island Sound; basic knowledge of maritime inland navigation; basic knowledge of 2-stoke outboard motor operation & vessel maintenance; must possess basic/intermediate skills to operate 23' center console vessel; ability to operate vessel in foul weather;

ability to communicate professional with customers; ability to maintain a log and file state required paperwork.

Special Requirements

Weekend hours are required for this position. Must be able to pass a CORI and background check.
