Overview
Operations is the beating heart of Amazon. This key part of our business ensures we fulfil and dispatch orders efficiently so that customers receive items on time. As an Area Manager, you’ll ensure your site runs smoothly to meet customer demand. You’ll lead a team focused on safety, efficiency, and high quality, while driving productivity through projects across the network.
Responsibilities- Create, oversee, and drive a culture of safety and wellbeing
- Analyse and implement changes to keep quality and productivity at a consistently high level
- Oversee projects to streamline processes, optimise productivity and increase quality of service within your area
- Analyse shift performance against relevant business objectives, and implement actions to improve operational excellence
- Collaborate with management-level colleagues to standardise shift practices
You’ll work on a shift pattern at one of our sites, ensuring productivity is maximised. Your main focus will be to own and drive a culture of safety and uphold quality and shift performance standards. You’ll also oversee process improvements within your area and drive implementation. A typical day includes routine team management, daily operational responsibilities, process improvement, and wide-scale operational contingency tasks.
You’ll also be a role model and mentor to new managers.
Amazon Logistics, or AMZL, handles last-mile delivery duties in partnership with third-party distribution businesses. We use continuous improvement initiatives to move millions of products to customers, aiming to make the delivery experience as smooth as possible and to roll out global delivery solutions for concepts like Amazon Fresh, Prime Now and Amazon Restaurants. Our operations include both under-the-roof processing and on-the-road delivery, with 24/7 shifts at many locations.
We also collaborate with Amazon Flex to work with a network of delivery contractors, and continuously pursue new ideas to improve customer experience and reduce our carbon footprint, supported by a portfolio of cutting-edge vehicles and technology.
- Bachelor’s degree, or Master’s degree
- Experience in people management
- Experience communicating clearly and concisely with leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
- Experience using data to make business decisions and manage training efforts
- Experience in Business English skills, both verbal and written
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen techniques
- Experience in warehouse operations and logistics or equivalent
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) in a professional environment
